Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE) conducted a public consultation (offentlig høring) on Statnett and Energinet’s notification (melding) concerning the potential reinvestment of the Skagerrak 1 and 2 interconnector cables between Norway and Denmark. The notification, submitted to NVE in September 2024, covers alternative routes and technical solutions for replacing the ageing HVDC links affecting Agder county, including the municipalities of Kristiansand, Vennesla, Birkenes and Lillesand. NVE put the notification out to hearing and invited input from stakeholders and the public. The consultation generated significant interest, with over 70 consultation statements (høringsuttalelser) received. Statnett has reviewed these submissions as part of the ongoing assessment of reinvestment options, which will inform subsequent environmental and licensing work and any future concession application.
