SSEN Transmission completed a detailed geophysical and geotechnical survey of the subsea route between Wick in the north east of Scotland and the Shetland Isles in January 2019. The survey, conducted by contractor MMT, utilised several vessels working in harsh North Sea winter conditions to deliver high-quality data on the 253 km long route covering seabed features, sub-bottom conditions and soil analysis. The information was used to inform the Marine Licence Application submitted to Marine Scotland later in 2019.
