SSEN Transmission’s Shetland 2 HVDC Link, a proposed 1.8–2 GW subsea cable connection between Shetland and mainland Scotland, is planned to complete construction and be fully energised in 2035, providing the second high‑capacity export route for Shetland’s onshore and ScotWind offshore generation as part of the wider Shetland Strategy.
