SSEN Transmission plans to carry out marine surveys and refine the subsea cable route for the Shetland 2 High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Link in 2026, as part of the project’s subsea cables and landfall workstream. This phase will use survey data to optimise and finalise the export cable route between mainland Shetland and the Scottish mainland ahead of subsequent marine licence consultation and application stages.
