Offshore installation of two HVAC submarine export cable circuits between the Sheringham Shoal offshore substations and landfall at Weybourne, managed by Visser & Smith Marine Contracting, including route clearance and laying operations.
Visser & Smith Marine Contracting acted as the marine installation contractor for the Sheringham Shoal export cable system that now forms the Sheringham Shoal OFTO. The company managed the entire offshore cable operation, including route preparation by the vessel Atlantic Guardian and laying of the two HVAC export cables from Weybourne landfall toward the wind farm using the dynamically positioned vessel Team Oman. The installed export cables, manufactured by Nexans and incorporating both power and fibre‑optic elements, comprise two circuits of approximately 23 km and 21 km respectively (around 44 km total), transmitting power from the offshore substations to the onshore transition point for onward connection into the grid.
