By 2008, after around four years of planning and development, all necessary consents had been secured to enable construction of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm and its associated offshore transmission assets, including the export cable system and substations that now form the Sheringham Shoal OFTO, although actual construction was delayed until 2009 by the global financial crisis.
