On 30 August 2019, following completion of the plan-level Habitats Regulations Assessment, The Crown Estate confirmed that the Sheringham Shoal Extension would progress to the award of development rights as one of seven extension projects selected from the 2017 Project Extensions Round. The extension is being developed by Equinor and partners alongside the existing Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm off the Norfolk coast.
