All 114 Vestas V164-10.0 MW turbines at the 1,075 MW Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm — Scotland's largest wind farm — are now fully operational and generating renewable electricity to the GB grid. The site sits 27 km off the Angus coast in the Firth of Forth and is the world's deepest fixed-bottom offshore wind farm, with its deepest jacket installed at 58.7 m below sea level. SSE Renewables led development and construction with TotalEnergies, who acquired a 51% stake in 2020; SSE will operate the asset. First turbine installed December 2021, first power achieved August 2022, final turbine installed summer 2023. The project is contracted under a 15-year Contract for Difference at a strike price of GBP 41.61/MWh (2012 prices, AR3) for 454 MW and a 15-year merchant arrangement for the remaining ~621 MW. PwC analysis estimates delivery supported a GBP 1bn+ economic boost to Scotland and around 4,000 Scottish jobs during construction. Capable of powering ~1.6 million homes annually, two-thirds of all Scottish households.
