In January 2022, Ofgem invited tenders under Offshore Transmission Owner Tender Round 9 for parties to own and operate the prebuilt Seagreen Phase 1 transmission link, including the offshore substation platform, subsea export cables, onshore cables and onshore substation that connect the 1,075 MW Seagreen 1 wind farm to the onshore grid in Angus. This marked the formal launch of the competitive OFTO procurement process for the Seagreen Phase 1 Offshore Electricity Transmission assets.
