Marine contractor VanOord working with Sumitomo Electric and Siemens Energy to install Sea Link’s approximately 140 km 525 kV subsea cable between Kent and Suffolk in the UK.
VanOord is identified as the marine contractor partnering with Sumitomo Electric and Siemens Energy on the Sea Link HVDC project between Kent and Suffolk. Working alongside Sumitomo, VanOord will provide offshore marine works to support the installation of the 525 kV subsea cable system on the roughly 140 km route through the North Sea and Thames Estuary. Its role forms part of the construction phase of Sea Link, contributing specialist cable lay and associated marine construction capabilities to deliver the new 2 GW transmission link that reinforces the UK onshore grid.
