A consortium led by North Falls, acting with Five Estuaries and National Grid Electricity Transmission (Sea Link), was awarded grant funding under the Offshore Coordination Support Scheme (OCSS) and submitted a high‑level feasibility study on 28 March 2024. The study assessed the technical and programme feasibility of a coordinated offshore connection (building blocks, construction and commissioning methodologies, and overall programme) and evaluated capital and constraint cost implications of a coordinated solution for Sea Link and adjacent offshore projects. The work was funded via DESNZ; following review the Secretary of State decided not to award further funding in September 2024. The study informed National Grid’s appraisal of coordinated offshore options and provided technical evidence on potential cost increases and delivery risks associated with coordination.
