Between 5 and 9 February 2024, the BlueFloat Energy | Renantis Partnership, developing the Broadshore Hub and Bellrock offshore wind projects, hosted a series of public consultation events in Aberdeenshire. These consultations covered the Broadshore Hub Wind Farm Development Areas, which include the Broadshore, Sinclair and Scaraben offshore wind farms, and were designed to give local communities and wider stakeholders an opportunity to meet the development team and gain a deeper understanding of the proposed projects. The in-person events formed part of the developers’ wider scoping and engagement activity, following submission of a scoping request and Habitats Regulations Assessment screening report for the Broadshore Hub to the Marine Directorate. Stakeholders were invited to review the scoping and screening material and provide feedback to the Marine Directorate, whose input will help Scottish Ministers adopt a robust scoping opinion for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). As explained by the Head of Consents and Land for the Broadshore Hub and Bellrock project, this feedback is expected to shape important aspects of the Broadshore Hub’s EIA, improving its overall quality. For Scaraben, as one of the constituent wind farms within the Broadshore Hub, these Aberdeenshire consultation events represent a key early-development regulatory milestone, ensuring that local perspectives and environmental considerations are captured before detailed EIA work progresses and formal consent applications are prepared.
