Manufacturing Update

By 12 February 2016, tower manufacturing for the Sandbank offshore wind farm was underway. Titan Wind had begun serial production of 38 turbine towers at its facilities in Varde, Denmark, while Welcon was contracted to supply the remaining 34 towers for the 72‑turbine project. These towers will support Siemens SWT‑4.0‑130 turbines at the Sandbank site some 90 km off the island of Sylt. The update confirms that multiple European fabrication facilities were engaged in delivering the steel tower components required for Sandbank’s full 288 MW capacity.
