By 14 September 2015, the offshore substation for the Sandbank offshore wind farm was under construction, with fabrication activities taking place in Denmark, Poland and Germany. Bladt Industries A/S of Denmark is the main contractor for the offshore substation, overseeing engineering, procurement, construction and installation. The substation will transform power from the wind farm’s 72 Siemens 4 MW turbines from 33 kV to 155 kV before transmission to the SylWin alpha converter platform. This update confirms that key electrical infrastructure manufacturing for Sandbank was well advanced during the inter-array cable installation phase.
