Installation of monopile foundations at the Sandbank offshore wind farm started in July 2015. The campaign involved driving 72 steel monopile foundations into the seabed at the project site approximately 90 km off the German island of Sylt. The monopiles were fabricated by EEW Special Pipe Constructions, and the offshore installation was carried out using the jack-up vessel Pacific Orca. The first monopile was installed in July 2015, initiating the main offshore foundation phase for the 288 MW project that will support 72 Siemens SWT 4.0‑130 turbines.
