NIRAS

NIRAS was contracted by the Salamander joint venture in December 2022 to lead the Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) for the project. NIRAS's scope covered the assessment of likely significant effects on European sites and qualifying features, together with the appropriate-assessment evidence base required by Marine Scotland to inform Scottish Ministers' Habitat Regulations Appraisal determination. The HRA outputs sat alongside MarineSpace/ERM's broader EIA workstream and fed into the Salamander consent package that ultimately supported the Section 36 consent and Marine Licence award on 24 July 2025, with the Habitat Regulations Appropriate Assessment listed as a determination on the same date.
