Fugro was selected in August 2023 to deliver the site-specific metocean survey for the Salamander floating offshore wind project off Peterhead, with the campaign planned to run for approximately twelve months. The contracted scope covered deployment, operation, and retrieval of floating SEAWATCH Wind LiDAR buoys and wave buoys to gather meteorological, oceanographic and wider environmental data sets — including site wind resource, wave and current regimes — needed to refine and de-risk the project's engineering design, layout optimisation and installation planning, and to inform the EIA and consenting submissions. Fugro deployed the floating LiDAR systems and wave buoys on 21 November 2023, and the metocean monitoring campaign was completed and the equipment retrieved on 22 January 2025. The resulting twelve-month metocean dataset feeds directly into Salamander's detailed design, foundation engineering basis (now anchored on Odfjell Oceanwind's Deepsea Star semi-submersible), and floating-wind-specific load case definition.
