Power Engineering reported on 25 May 2005 that Public Power Corporation of Greece awarded Nexans a EUR 20 million turnkey contract for the supply and installation of 150 kV submarine and terrestrial cables linking Sagiada on the Greek mainland to Agios Vassilios on Corfu, with the project to be completed by April 2006. The high-voltage transmission link has a capacity of 175 MW and comprises 68 km of submarine cable installed at depths of up to 70 metres and 16 km of underground cable. Given the stated completion target of April 2006 and confirmation from ADMIE's July 2024 tender notice for a third Corfu interconnection that 'currently, Corfu is connected to the mainland electrical system with two 150 kV cable lines', the Sagiada-Agios Vassilios link has been operational since approximately mid-2006. The April 2006 date is taken as the approximate commissioning date based on the developer-stated project completion schedule.
