SACOI 3, a 400 MW bipolar HVDC interconnector between mainland Italy, Corsica and Sardinia, is planned to enter commercial operation around 2030, following completion of works and commissioning of the two poles and associated converter stations. Earlier regulatory and planning documents forecast commissioning in 2029, but more recent project communications from Corsica indicate that construction is expected to run until 2029 with the start of operation in 2030.
