Turnkey 400 kV land–sea cable system between Rio and Antirrion (Western Corridor of Peloponnese interconnection), comprising 18 km submarine and 42 km underground route with six parallel HVAC cables, designed, manufactured, supplied and installed by Hellenic Cables for IPTO.
Hellenic Cables acted as the turnkey contractor for the Rio–Antirrion 400 kV interconnection, responsible for the design, manufacturing, testing, supply, installation, protection and connection of the extra‑high‑voltage cable system linking Rio in the Peloponnese with Antirrion on mainland Greece. Under a contract with IPTO (ADMIE), the company delivered two three‑phase 400 kV submarine circuits and associated underground land cables forming the Western Corridor of the Peloponnese interconnection. Submarine cables were produced at the group’s Fulgor plant in Corinth and land cables at its Thiva plant, with a total route of 18 km offshore and 42 km onshore, corresponding to approximately 108 km of submarine and 252 km of underground cable across six parallel cables. Hellenic Cables also managed cable laying, protection and terminations, working with specialist partners, to complete the link by 2020.
