By summer 2013, EWE completed installation of all 30 Siemens wind turbines for the Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea. The 3.6 MW-class turbines, each with a rotor diameter of 120 metres and a hub height of 90 metres, were installed 15 kilometres off the North Sea island of Borkum in water depths between 18 and 23 metres. The turbines are mounted on 70-metre-long steel monopile foundations driven around 40 metres into the seabed. EWE reports that the full set of 30 turbines was installed within a 14‑month offshore construction campaign, marking the completion of the turbine installation phase for Riffgat and enabling the project to reach its full installed capacity of around 108–113 MW and supply electricity to approximately 120,000 households.
