In early 2011 the Dutch government formally protested against the German government’s issuing of construction licences for the Riffgat offshore wind farm, claiming that part of the project lay within Dutch territory. This regulatory dispute concerned maritime boundaries and jurisdiction over the wind farm site in the North Sea.
