On 20 November 2014, Belgian offshore wind developer Otary issued a call for tenders for the Rentel project’s grid connection, seeking engineering, procurement, construction and installation services for the 220 kV submarine export cables, the onshore connection to the Belgian transmission grid, and an offshore high-voltage substation to connect the Rentel wind farm (planned capacity 288–550 MW, located 42 km offshore) to shore.
