The Rentel export cable system, including the approximately 40 km 220 kV AC submarine cable connecting the Rentel offshore high-voltage substation to the mainland near Zeebrugge, was scheduled to be fully commissioned and the associated wind farm fully operational by the end of 2018, marking the start of full commercial transmission of power to the Belgian grid.
