On 5 April 2016, Rentel NV awarded ABB a contract worth around USD 80 million to design, manufacture and install an approximately 40 km extruded three-core 220 kV AC submarine cable system to connect the Rentel offshore substation to the mainland near Zeebrugge, providing about 300 MW of transmission capacity and forming the Rentel export connection scheduled for commissioning in 2018.
