In December 2020, Med-TSO’s project assessment for the new Spain–Morocco interconnection (the planned third 400 kV HVAC link of about 60 km with 30 km subsea cable and 30 km overhead line) estimated the overall investment cost at €223 million. The analysis indicated that €148 million would be for the interconnection itself and the remainder for internal reinforcements in Morocco, with around 33% of total costs attributed to these internal upgrades.
