Spain and Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding in February 2019 agreeing to construct a third 400 kV interconnector of about 700 MW between Tarifa in Spain and Beni Harchan(e) in Morocco, with an estimated investment of around €150 million to be shared equally and an indicative commissioning target of 2026.
