DELAYED +6yr (Apr 2026): The 2019 REE–ONEE MoU said the third Spain–Morocco 400 kV interconnector should be ready before 2026. As of April 2026 there is no official evidence of FID, construction, or operation, so the pre‑2026 COD has clearly slipped. Given this delay and typical timelines for 400 kV subsea HVAC links, COD is pushed back to around 2032; 1 Jan 2032 is used as a year‑only placeholder. --- Spain’s Red Eléctrica de España (REE) and Morocco’s ONEE plan to bring a third 400 kV HVAC Spain–Morocco interconnector (REMO 3) into commercial operation around 2026. The new link, a ~60 km line with about 30 km subsea cable and 30 km overhead between Béni Harchane in Morocco and Puerto de la Cruz/Tarifa area in Spain, is designed for roughly 700 MW capacity and is promoted jointly by ONEE and REE, with project documentation citing an expected commissioning date by 2026.
