Description
Global Marine Group (GMG) was awarded a contract by E.ON to install a fibre optic cable at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm to provide a communications link from shore to the offshore substation. The installation was to be executed by CWind (part of GMG) using the vessel CS Recorder and the Hi-Plough burial tool to protect the cable in hard chalk seabed conditions. The fibre optic cable specified was a 96-fibre armoured cable supplied by Hexatronic, with installation expected to be completed in August 2017.
