A Development Consent Order under the Planning Act was awarded in July 2014 for the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, located approximately 13 km off the Sussex coast and covering an area of about 72 km²; the consented project includes an offshore substation platform, two roughly 17 km 150 kV offshore export cables, two roughly 27 km 150 kV onshore underground cable circuits, a new onshore substation at Twineham, and two 400 kV cables connecting this substation to National Grid’s Bolney substation, forming the transmission assets later subject to the OFTO regime.
