On 14 January 2026, the UK Government announced the results of Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 7 (AR7), Europe's largest-ever offshore wind auction at 8.4 GW awarded. Rampion 2 was not among the projects awarded a CfD in AR7. RWE — lead developer of Rampion 2 (50.1%, alongside a Macquarie-led consortium 25% and Enbridge 24.9%) — separately won approximately 6.9 GW of new 20-year CfDs in AR7 for Norfolk Vanguard East, Norfolk Vanguard West, two Dogger Bank South projects and Awel y Môr at a fixed-offshore-wind clearing price of around £91.20/MWh. In a statement reported by Sussex Express on 31 March 2026, a Rampion 2 spokesperson rejected campaigner claims that the project had been left "commercially uncompetitive", saying it was "wholly incorrect to claim the project has failed to win or been denied a CfD" and that Rampion 2 is "targeting a future CfD round". The spokesperson added that auction participation is "strictly confidential and commercially sensitive" and declined to confirm whether project partners would bid into any specific upcoming auction (notably AR8, scheduled to open in July 2026 with applications from 13 May 2026). The team confirmed Rampion 2 "is progressing on plan" with continued onshore and offshore survey works and site investigations, and that the project remains targeted for full operation by 2030.
