Start of subsea cable installation for Princess Elisabeth Island is planned for 2027, when consortia led by DEME with Hellenic Cables and by Jan De Nul with LS Cable & System commence transport and laying of approximately 165 km of high‑voltage subsea power cables between the energy island and the Belgian onshore electricity grid. The campaigns will use cable‑laying vessels, jack‑ups and support vessels to install three 220 kV HVAC export cables and associated connections that link the island’s HVAC infrastructure into Belgium’s transmission system.
