In 2021, Arcadis Ltd completed a study for Highland Wind Limited assessing viable grid connection options at Dounreay for the Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm and concluded there was sufficient existing network capacity to accommodate the project’s output without significant enhancement works, thereby avoiding additional environmental impact and cost to consumers.
