In January 2023, The Highland Council granted planning permission in principle for the onshore elements of the Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm. This approval allows the onshore transmission infrastructure at Dounreay, including onshore cable routes and substation works, to proceed to detailed design and further approvals.
