On 17 July 2025, a multi‑stakeholder working group comprising the Government of the Balearic Islands, Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the Consell de Mallorca, Alcúdia Council, Red Eléctrica and the local residents’ platform reached unanimous agreement on a new onshore route for the second Peninsula–Balearic Islands link. The agreed alternative route starts from the Sa Ferradura landing point, follows the Camí de Salou, the MA‑3460 road and an existing forest track on Puig de Sant Martí to the Na Lloreta industrial estate near the existing Sant Martí 220/66 kV substation; Red Eléctrica formalised this alignment in an updated project and environmental impact assessment submitted to the ministry, reducing passage through residential areas and aligning the route with technical and environmental constraints.
