On 10 August 2023, following further appraisal by National Grid ESO and National Grid Electricity Transmission, Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind confirmed it would no longer pursue the Lincolnshire Node grid connection option and would continue development at two remaining substation study areas in the Surfleet Marsh and Weston Marsh areas. At the same time, the project selected export cable route 1a, located further inland west of the A52, and ceased development along the alternative cable route 1 closer to the coast.
