DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): Equinor’s electrification overview for the Norwegian continental shelf states that the Oseberg Gas Phase 2 and Power from Shore project completion has been postponed from 2026 to the end of 2027 due to longer lead times after transformers were destroyed in a 2023 fire at Hitachi’s factory in Finland and additional project complexity. The original plan was for start-up/completion in 2026; this projection is updated to end-2027 in line with Equinor’s latest official guidance. --- Equinor and its partners plan to bring the Oseberg Gas Capacity Upgrade and Power from Shore project into operation in 2026, marking start-up of the new facilities that include two new gas compressors and partial electrification of the Oseberg Field Centre and Oseberg South platform via a power-from-shore link with a demand of up to 105 MW. Once in service, the upgraded, partly electrified facilities are expected to support a major shift in Oseberg towards gas production while cutting CO2 emissions by about 320,000 tonnes per year and enabling increased recovery of remaining gas and oil reserves.
