First Power

On 26 April 2011 Vattenfall reported that it had completed three months of cable engineering works by laying and burying the 42 km export cable in a single uninterrupted operation from shore to the Ormonde offshore substation and connecting it through to the Heysham onshore substation. With this export cable in place between the offshore and onshore substations, Vattenfall stated that the generation of first power and export to the National Grid from the Ormonde Offshore Wind Farm was expected later in 2011, once inter-array cabling and turbine energisation were completed.
