On 25 April 2011, Vattenfall completed three months of export cable engineering works for the Ormonde offshore wind farm, finishing the laying and burial of the 42 km, 132 kV export cable in a single uninterrupted operation from shore to the offshore substation. Visser Smit carried out the installation. The completed export cable connection from the offshore substation to the Heysham onshore substation established the link to the National Grid.
