Installation of the Øresund 2 400 kV AC interconnector cable system between Skibstrupgaard (Denmark) and Kristinelund (Sweden) across the Øresund strait, approximately 30 km subsea and 12 km onshore.
Energinet awarded JD Contractor A/S a contract worth over €14 million to install the new 400 kV cable system for the Øresund 2 interconnection between Denmark and Sweden. The scope covers installation of the high‑voltage cable between the transition stations at Skibstrupgaard in Denmark and Kristinelund in Sweden, including laying the new submarine cables broadly along the existing Øresund route and installing associated onshore sections from the coast to the transformer stations. The works form part of the project to replace Energinet’s ageing 400 kV Øresund System 2, which has reached the end of its technical life and is critical for synchronising Zealand with the Nordic power system. Construction is scheduled to run for about two years, with commissioning targeted for late 2026 and project completion in 2027.
