Øresund 2 400 kV AC interconnection between Denmark (Skibstrupgård) and Sweden (Kristinelund), comprising c. 30 km submarine and 12 km underground route length with multiple parallel single‑core cables.
Hellenic Cables, the cables segment of Cenergy Holdings, signed a contract with Danish TSO Energinet to supply the new 400 kV AC cable system for the Øresund 2 interconnection between Denmark and Sweden. The company is responsible for design, manufacture and delivery of approximately 30 km of submarine and 12 km of underground 400 kV single‑core cables, corresponding to around 120 km of subsea and 48 km of land cable for the multi‑core system. Hellenic Cables will also supervise installation and testing and perform jointing and termination works on both sides of the strait. Submarine cables are produced at its Corinth plant and underground cables at its Thiva factory, with production starting in 2023 and deliveries expected in the first half of 2024. The project will reinforce cross‑border transmission capacity and security of supply for Zealand and southern Sweden.
