By late November 2023, Svenska kraftnät had commenced soil sampling (markprovtagning) within the Domsten–Viken nature reserve as part of onshore geotechnical investigations ahead of the planned renewal of the northern Öresund 400 kV cable connection. The works required closure of the public parking area during week 48 and, due to delays, this closure was extended through weeks 50 and 51 in December 2023.
