Major milestone or critical setback
DELAYED +1mo (Apr 2026): Official permitting documents now provide a clearer Energinet timetable. Kystdirektoratet’s January 2026 decision on temporary work sites for the Øresund cable replacement reproduces Energinet’s schedule, with land‑cable construction from mid‑January to late May 2026, subsea installation July–September 2026, and an explicit statement that the Øresund 2 connection is expected to be put into operation in December 2026. This makes the previous projection of full‑power commercial operation on 1 November 2026 optimistic. The COD milestone is therefore shifted to December 2026 in line with the developer’s own stated in‑service month. --- Energinet plans to replace System 2 of the 400 kV Øresund interconnector between Skibstrupgård in Denmark and Kristinelund in Sweden, with three new onshore and three new submarine cables, and expects the new connection to be commissioned and put into operation in November 2026. Once this new 400 kV AC link is operational, the old cables will be removed, with overall project completion targeted for June 2027.
