On 18 July 2024, a plenary meeting of the Fontaine consultation process for the Sud-Atlantique offshore wind connection project, chaired by the Préfet de Charente-Maritime in coordination with the Préfète des Deux-Sèvres and the maritime prefect, validated the least-impact corridor for the electrical link both at sea and on land. The meeting also confirmed the least-impact locations for the offshore and onshore converter stations that will form part of the grid connection for the planned offshore wind farm north of Île d’Oléron. This decision marks completion of a key route-corridor selection and engineering milestone for the cable route and associated converter station siting.
