IPTO’s Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2021–2030 places the Chios–Samos link in Phase C of the North Aegean Islands interconnection, which will close the transmission loop between Lesvos–Skyros and Chios–Samos and is due for completion in 2030. Earlier Greek planning documents describe the Northeast Aegean interconnection as including radial 150 kV AC submarine cable links Lesvos–Chios, Chios–Samos and Samos–Kos, with overall commissioning expected in 2029, implying that the Chios–Samos segment is planned to enter full commercial operation around the end of the decade as part of this loop-closure phase.
