By early January 2017, Van Oord had contracted Sif to manufacture all 44 monopiles plus the offshore high-voltage substation pile for Norther and, in cooperation with Smulders, to supply and outfit all transition pieces, establishing Sif and Smulders as the main foundation suppliers for the project.
