Civil works and tunnel infrastructure enabling installation of the North Sea Link (NSL) ±515 kV HVDC cable route between Hylsfjorden, Lake Suldalsvatnet and the Kvilldal converter station in Norway.
Implenia Norway, part of the Implenia Group, was contracted by Statnett in 2015 to deliver ground and tunnel works for the Norwegian segment of the North Sea Link interconnector. Its scope covered excavation, blasting and tunnelling for the onshore HVDC cable corridor, together with the construction of quays and landslide protection works needed for cable landfalls and access along the route. These civil works prepared the alignment between inland Norwegian locations and the fjords/North Sea, enabling subsequent installation of the North Sea Link onshore and nearshore cable sections.
