National Grid and project partners commenced the Norwegian‑side cable laying operations in Suldalsvatnet in late June 2020. The team built and deployed a custom 43 x 15 m floating cable‑laying platform to install 2.8 km of parallel high‑voltage subsea cable in depths up to ~200 m; Nexans manufactured the Norwegian cables in Halden and executed the Norwegian‑side installation on behalf of the project. The operation marked the start of the on‑water installation campaign from the fjords out towards the North Sea.
