On 9 August 2002, Vestas – Celtic Wind Technology Ltd, a subsidiary of Vestas Wind Systems, was awarded the contract to develop the 60 MW North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm approximately 7 km off Rhyl on the north coast of Wales, supplying 30 turbines and also providing the foundations, electrical infrastructure, remote monitoring system and five years of service, in a deal valued at about DKK 650 million (£55.3 million).
