Following the completion of the formal examination of the North Falls Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), the Examining Authority submitted its recommendation on the project to the Secretary of State on 28 October 2025. This step marks the transition from the Planning Inspectorate’s examination phase to ministerial consideration, a key regulatory milestone within the Planning Act 2008 process for major infrastructure schemes such as offshore wind farms. The Suffolk County Council NSIP project page explains that the application for Development Consent for North Falls was submitted on 22 July 2024, and was accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate on 22 August 2024. Interested parties were invited to provide Relevant Representations between 23 August 2024 and 27 January 2025, after which the Examination formally opened on 28 January 2025 and closed on 28 July 2025. During this six‑month examination period, Suffolk County Council contributed a Joint Local Impact Report at Deadline 1, along with a range of other submissions to the Planning Inspectorate’s project webpage. Once that examination period closed, the Examining Authority’s role was to consider the evidence and representations and then produce a recommendation report.
